A Giordano show is always a multi-layered display of art and entertainment, not so much defying barriers and boundaries as transcending them.

After a milestone anniversary year, Giordano Dance Chicago steps into its next season (and decade) with Unlimited. Season 61 takes the Giordano you love to the edge of expectation, continuing to push the boundaries of jazz dance. Headlining the program at the Harris Theater is the return of three Giordano “greats” spanning from the ‘90s to now. Ahead of its time in 1999, Le Grand Futur is Here! by renowned Emmy Award Winner Mia Michaels combines athletic and gestural movements to create “a slinky, slithery style and an evocative, haunting image” (Chicago Tribune). Autumn Eckman’s JOLT hits the stage at breakneck speeds as a comedic commentary on our society’s need for caffeine. JOLT launched GDC into its last decade making Dance Magazine’s “Best New Choreography” list in 2012. Rounding out this trio is Brock Clawson’s noir-style Sneaky Pete, called “winningly mad” and “alternately elegant” by the Chicago Sun-Times.
This program will feature additional works to be announced.

Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Al Blackstone joins forces with Giordano Dance Chicago to create a World Premiere theatrical one-act extravaganza. Blackstone is known for his work on both stage and screen, and he became a household name with his success on So You Think You Can Dance. With a deep love for jazz dance, Al’s character-driven choreography seeks to remind us of the beauty and fragility of being alive.
Featured on the program, too, will be works from GDC’s expansive repertoire demonstrating the company’s unlimited energy, passion, and joy!
